Trip to Guangzhou

Yesterday we left Harbin for Guangzhou. I felt a little sad that Jinbao was leaving his birth city for good but it did not appear to bother him. He seemed very excited to get up and go. It seemed like a long day of just traveling. Lynn brought us to the airport about 2 1/2 hours before our flight, then once we boarded the plane there was a delay so we sat for a while. In the aisle next to us was a cute little baby about 1 year old with her mom. She was sometimes crying and sometimes giggly and happy. He seemed intrigued with the interaction between mom and baby. The flight was long and bumpy and I am not very good with that! We were picked up right away by our new guide. Once we were in the van Jinbao was yelling out to her that he felt like he was going to throw up but of course Andrew and I didn't know what he was saying. The guide let us know and had a bag for him. Luckily it didn't happen but now I am glad I ran to the store and purchased Dramamine before we left. I will give it to him before we take our flight home. I do not remember if I posted this before but Jinbao went on a trip to Austria last October with 20 children from his orphanage. It was sponsored by the Austrian government. He said he got sick on that flight. Our guide was amazed he has been on a trip like that because most common people in China never get to travel out of the country.
So we arrived in the evening at the Garden Hotel, hungry and tired. It is gorgeous here and I will get some pictures and post them later. We went to Pizza Hut and picked up some water at the seven-eleven down the street. Sounds like home right? The hotel is located in the center of the business district in Guangzhou and many Americans work here. I am glad I will not be stared at everywhere I go, I was starting to get a bit tired of it. I have also connected with some of the other families here that I have met through our online adoption group and should see some of them this morning at breakfast face to face for the first time with their new children. Today Jinbao will get his medical exam and his shots. We will also fill out paperwork with our guide so it will be a boring day but, at this point I am ready for a boring day!

Thanks for following! Donna
